Got a couple codes 32 and 52. I think 32 is whats causing all my problems but who knows...

Here it goes...

I took the engine out of a 1987 supra and changed a few gaskets, redid the wire harness but didn't touch the bottom end. I've got the engine back together and in the truck but its not running right. It blows a TON of black smoke out the exhaust and leaves a powder residue on the garage floor...

Im pretty sure I have all the vacuum lines hooked to the right places but I DO NOT have an intercooler hooked up yet so maybe this is the problem, but I have a hard time believing that this much black smoke would be a result of no intercooler. I would just think I wouldn't get any boost and risk sucking something down into the engine...

I thought maybe it was the cam position sensor so I adjusted it over a notch and it ran even worse, so I put it back. I did some more trouble shooting and noticed some of the wires that plug into the CPS were bare and looked to be touching so I fixed them but Im still getting a lot of smoke. Somewhere in the middle of all this, I replaced the #1 spark which was brand new and was completely black with carbon. I have yet to look at the other plugs but I'm sure they are toasted.

Any advice would be very helpful.

seems you have a bad AFM. Replace it. Other code is for the knock sensor. Make sure that both are plugged in. The problematic one is the one behind the starter. You cannot take it on/off without breaking the connector a little, which is fine. Just make sure it is on all the way and the wire isn't broken. Both knock sensors use a thin coaxial wire, so it could be hard to find that out just by looking at it. Might need to run a test on it with an ohm meter.

The knock sensor will not cause the black smoke, but it will cause the engine to lose power not having both hooked up.
